You Can Fool Some People Sometimes…

When a person is said to have 20/20 vision, it is thought that they can see clearly and they can be confident that when they look at something from a distance, they are really seeing what they think they’re seeing. If we start to question the verity of what we see, we become uneasy and maybe even fearful. That being said, if 20/20 is the standard for normal and reliable vision, the year 2020 is the opposite of normal and trustworthy. As this horrible year comes to an end and we all wonder if next year will be better or if it will be worse, more than anything most of us have come to realize that it has become very difficult to know the truth in our current events. It seems there is no longer any news source that we can put our faith in and this has left us all on edge.

I think what we have experienced this year is a complete breakdown of integrity not only in our own country, but across the globe. We have been fed so much misinformation that it has become almost impossible to sort out the truth from the fiction. It’s as if the whole world has been turned on its axis and we can’t seem to find our footing. We can no longer go to our standard sources of information for the truth. We must be active pursuers of the truth which takes a little more digging and a lot more time to read, listen and digest while using critical thinking skills that allow us to use reason to discern the truth from the lies.

More than anything, we must be prayerful in our pursuit for the truth, asking God to reveal it to us and to shield our eyes from anything that is confusing, conflicting or misleading so that we would not be fooled. In every situation, we always need to have that true North in our inner compass to keep us centered and balanced when chaos swirls around us. I have been reminded in the past few weeks that our only real source of truth that has not been compromised is our Lord Jesus and the words he has spoken and inspired within the Holy Bible. There is no one and nothing else and really, there never has been. We may have been lulled into a sense of security by the version of the truth that has been spun for us, but that is over and now we are starting to see just how twisted and evil this world and those that run it truly are. We have been told what others have wanted us to be told, lies woven into a tapestry that contained just enough threads of truth to make it all seem plausible. But now the scales are starting to fall from our eyes and frankly, it could not have come at a better time.

As we stand at a precipice- at the edge of this world and looking onto our eternity- we see just how steep the cliff really is. The bible tells us that in the last days even the elect- God’s own people- can be deceived. It is not hard to see how the world, who largely does not have any sort of genuine faith in the one true God, can fall for the pack of lies we are being handed- but if we are not careful, we will fall for it as well. In our mission of being heavenly minded, we must weigh everything against the one who is the way, the TRUTH, and the life.

If we close our eyes, we can glimpse one of the best parts of heaven- its integrity. There, we will ALWAYS have the truth. There will be no more deception, no more lies, no more fraud, no more cheating. We will always be able to trust that what we see and hear and feel is the real deal. What happens then? We RELAX!! Can you imagine never having to worry or second guess anything else ever again? This is what keeps me going today. Because we are not there yet- we are as far from this as we can be. And that is okay, because the Lord doesn’t want us to feel comfortable here. We should want to leave. But until then, WE FIGHT. We fight for our freedoms, we fight for our rights, we fight for Truth to prevail. We will fight with our voices, fight with our influence, and mostly, fight with our prayers because this is what scares the devil the most because it is our most powerful weapon. We must defend ourselves and reveal to the world the truth with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God found in the Bible. The Enemy knows his time is almost up. We ourselves have precious little time to get the truth out to a world that is under the spirit of delusion. We need to spring into action; the time for complacency is over. In the words of Bob Marley, “Get up! Stand Up! Stand up for your right. Don’t give up the fight. Now we see the light, we’re gonna stand up for our right.”
