Her Glimpse of Heaven

a blog to share the hope of a New Heaven and a New Earth

Good Reads

Reading is a favorite hobby of mine. I was one of those weird kids that got in trouble for staying up until 3 am reading in my closet. My husband still dreads when I start a book because he knows I will be MIA until that book is finished. That being said, here are some of my favorites books and authors.

HEAVEN by Randy Alcorn

The book (and videos) that inspired me to start this blog was Randy’s Alcorn’s book called Heaven. It gives us such a beautiful, colorful picture of what our future holds and encourages us to use the imagination that God gifted us with to dream about what that place will look like. I highly recommend it. For those of you who enjoy daily devotionals, there is a devotional on the YouVersion bible app as well.

THE CIRCLE SERIES by Ted Dekker

If you love Narnia and Lord of the Rings, this series is for you. This modern allegory allows us to see God in an entirely different yet altogether familiar way. It is the story of Thomas Hunter, an American man who discovers that when he falls asleep in this world, he wakes up in an alternate universe where God is called Elyon where the fall of man has yet to happen. It is up to him to save both worlds from destruction. It is a face paced and sometimes mind boggling thriller, but it also allows us to see God through fresh eyes and the result is an absolutely beautiful story. It is the only book -much less entire series- that I have read more than once and I can say I fell even more in love with it the second time. Check it out but don’t blame me when you can’t put it down and your eyes are bloodshot from reading for hours on end!

And when you finish THOSE, there are 2 more books that continues the story: 😁

FRANCINE RIVERS

Another favorite author of mine is Francine Rivers. I have read almost everything she has ever written. Some of my favorites:

This is a series too!
A redone, biblical version of the story of Hosea but set in the 1800s Gold Rush
